Nine Arch Bridge

Tea PlantationsThis magnificent Nine Arch Bridge between Ella and Demodara stations is just a few kilometres along the track from the Demodara station. This viaduct bridge built during the British Colonial period is the largest in Sri Lanka. It was built with blocks of stone and cement without any reinforcing iron or concrete.

Galle Fort – A UNESCO World Heritage SiteThe Galle Fort, or Dutch Fort as it is also known, is a fortification first built by the Portugese on the Southwestern coast of Sri Lanka. The initial fortifications, which were built in the late 16th century, were quite basic.

Horton Plains
National Park

Discover the Horton Plains National Park, Sri Lanka’s highest and most isolated plateau with an elevation of 2,134 metres. The scenery that can be seen from here is considered to be the finest view in Sri Lanka. Here you can follow bridle paths for about 4 hours through mystic cloud forests and Patna grassland to the “World’s End” a sheer drop of 1050 metres.

Jaffna Nallur Kandaswamy Temple

Hindu TempleNallur Kandaswamy temple is one of the most impressive religious buildings in Jaffna and one of the most significant Hindu temple complexes in the country dedicated to God Murugan. The kovil’s 15th-century structure was vandalized by the Portuguese in the 17th century and the current structure was rebuilt in 1734.

Biggest Library The Jaffna Library was once considered as one of the biggest libraries in Asia. It was first built in 1933 and was burnt down by the Sinhalese mob in 1981. This is an important event in the civil war and lead to the long war in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
