Itinerary

Day 01 – Airport – Negombo

you land, you will arrive in Negombo 30 mins away from the International Airport and check in to the hotel. Later that evening take a stroll down Negombo beach and finally sit down for dinner where your chauffer/national guide will brief you about your tour.

 

Day 02 – Negombo 

Affectionately dubbed as ‘Little Rome’, Negombo offers a variety of things to see and do, from medieval churches, a noisy fish market and access to fresh seafood and some of the most scenic beaches on the island. The long stretch of golden sand and clear blue waters offer an ideal spot for relaxation and water activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and beach volleyball. The Beach is also known for its stunning sunsets.

 

Day 03 – Negombo to Sigiriya

After a scrumptious breakfast head to Sigiriya

 the fifth century rock citadel built during the time of King Kasyapa. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, this magnificent fortress not only showcases the ingenuity of Sri Lankan engineering with the planning of the ancient town but is also one of the island’s finest monuments, interlinked with art and culture. Make the ascent and pass through the gigantic section of what remains of the ‘Lion Paws. Feast your eyes across rolling land and lake vistas and relish the cool winds that sweep across the region.

En route, stop at the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, a historic and sacred site which was also a focal point for many kings since the first century B.C.

Dambulla Royal Cave Temple – This site is home to distinctive paintings which can be found in five magnificently constructed cave temples beside the Golden Temple of Dambulla. Observe how these exquisite cave paintings are drawn along the walls along with over 150 statues of Lord Buddha. While you explore this sanctuary make sure to take in the massive gold Buddha statue as well.

Day 04 – Sigiriya

After Breakfast Climb SigiriyaLLions Rock. Take in the iconic frescoes of the lovely cloud maidens, walk along the famed Mirror Wall on the west side of the fortress and take time to admire an artistic creation that showcases creative verses and poems left by ancient visitors. After which one can head to the museum located by the entrance which will offer a more comprehensive understanding about the significance of this colossal masterpiece and the rather advanced irrigation system which was incorporated into the infrastructure of the citadel.

Day 05-Sigiriya to Passikudah

After Breakfast Leave To Passikudah Small Piece of Heaven for Beach Lovers. En Route Explore the Ancient City of Polonnaruwa

Polonnaruwa –  contains the UNESCO-listed ruins of what was the medieval capital of Ceylon. It was initially a temporary royal residence. However in the late 10th century, it became a capital city of Ceylon (the former name of Sri Lanka) after the ancient capital of Anuradhapura was conquered and destroyed by King Chola Rajaraja I. The Chola dynasty favoured Polonnaruwa over Anuradhapura as it was thought to be easier to defend.

Day 06 – Passikudah

Lounge Around at Your Beachfront Resort. If you like you can treat your body with an Ayurvedic treatment at the Resort. Evening Take a Walk Along the Stunning Beach and Enjoy the Beautiful Sunset Views

Day 07 – Passikudah

Day 08 – passikudah to Kandy

After breakfast  transfer to Kandy

Kandy – Settled on a plateau encircled by lush mountains, Kandy is a large city in central Sri Lanka with biodiverse rainforests and tea plantations. Around 4 hours by road from Colombo, the city is famed for the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most sacred Buddhist places in the world.

Evening Take Blessings from Kandy Tooth Relic Temple During Theva Time

Temple of Tooth – The subject of fierce fighting, it is said that the tooth – one of the Buddha’s teeth and therefore one of the most important Buddhist relics – was first brought to Sri Lanka in the 4th century AD and has been part of the politics of the local region ever since. Legend has it that whoever owns the tooth has governance over the local area.

Day 09 – Kandy

Morning is unscheduled. You May Relax and Enjoy the Hotel Facilities.

In the evening Take a Stroll at the Royal Botanical Garden in Peradeniya

Peradeniya Royal botanical garden –  It was established in 1821, six years after the final occupation of the Kandyan Kingdom by the English. The site is less than 5.5 Km from Kandy on the Colombo Road, and occupies a loop of the river Mahaweli, which surrounds it on all sides except the south, where it is bounded by the main road. The area 61.25 ha in extent, is about 1550ft from sea level. More than 4000 species of plants including woody trees, Palms.erns, Orchids and shrubs currently present within the gardens.

Day 10 – Kandy to Colombo

After breakfast you will transfer to Colombo. En route Stop by a Tea Factory to Observe the Tea Production Process 

  • Colombo – Discovered initially by traders two millennia ago, Colombo is Sri Lanka’s largest economic corridor and tourist destination. As the island nation’s capital city, Colombo is a cosmopolitan gateway to the wonders of Portuguese, Dutch and British colonial heritage, splendid tropical landscapes and delectable cuisines.

Day 11 – Colombo to BIA
